40% of global shipping faces a global warming drought crisis: The Panama Canal Freshwaster Fanaticism

Meanwhile Panama officials plan to spend $2 billion to redirect more rivers toward the man-made lake to supply the man-made canal. We’re changing the Earth and the atmosphere. Some hoax. The 50 million gallons of fresh water used to fill the locks of the canal are lost to the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. The fresh water sources involved with moving the vessels also supply drinking water for half the country. And diverting water will have repercussions on the ecosystem … if anyone still cares about that sort of thing. In the meantime, Panama is expected to lose out on tens of millions of dollars in revenue because of the bottleneck. Two out of every three ships that use the canal are connected to the U.S. economy. It’s the cheapest way to move grain and other food supplies.   https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2023-09-18/panama-canal-drought-climate-change-deniers In Manila Bay, the realities of climate change are already impacting local communities, with the area suffering

Donko (Flower) Shiitake mushrooms on the big Oak tree!

Shiitake mushrooms are a natural food source of Vitamin D - when they dry in the sun like this!! You can increase your Vitamin D content if you leave out the mushrooms to dry more in the sun.... The first harvest of Shiitake was right after two days of solid rain - so the mushrooms were completely waterlogged (one CSA member said one of hers was slimy but I just explained it was due to the downpour for two days). Mushrooms are some 90% water when they first "fruit" so since those mushrooms were so waterlogged then they needed to be eaten that same day or soon after. You could cook them and freeze them - as was recommended by one CSA member. We ate ours that same night - if you did try to dry them then it was take a lot of heat to get all the water out.  These Donko shrooms dried naturally - not completely of course - but should last in the frig to finish drying in a paper bag.... I distributed these to half a dozen people - and just let people take as much as they wanted as

Free Camping in 1,506 State Wildlife Management Areas - a case by case permission scenario and list of Species of Greatest Concern

There is Free primitive dispersed camping in the national and state forests.... but also in the WMAs (pending permission)....   you can camp at many state-owned wildlife management areas (WMAs). Some larger and popular areas, such as Mille Lacs WMA, contain designated camping areas. I always thought camping was prohibited at your run-of-the mill WMAs, which can range from a few hundred acres to several thousand. It is, unless you get permission. Information on this is tricky to find, but here’s the official state rule: “A person may not camp on or remain in a vehicle overnight in any wildlife management area, except by permit or where posted for this use by the commissioner.” Said permit isn’t reserved for wildlife researchers or others with some high aims; a bunch of guys hoping to bag some grouse, or deer, or what have you, can seek a permit. The way to do it is to contact the Department of Natural Resources’ wildlife manager for the WMA in question. Contact info is us
